Giles Sirett – CEO
He is also a committer and PMC member of the Apache CloudStack project and Chairman of the European Cloudstack User Group, actively helping promote brand awareness of the technology.
Giles can regularly be heard speaking at events around the globe, delivering visionary talks on cloud computing adoption and more specifically on Cloudstack technologies.
Before ShapeBlue, Giles held C-Level technology positions for 15 years including being founder and CEO of Octavia Information Systems, a leading UK Managed Service Provider
Outside work, Giles is married with two young children. He coaches children’s rugby, is a competitive masters swimmer and can regularly be seen crying when his beloved Tottenham Hotspur lose.
Paul Angus – VP Technology
He is a leading global authority on the design of Cloud infrastructures based on CloudStack. He is a committer in the Apache Cloudstack project and has designed many global clouds for both public and private cloud use-cases. He has worked directly with clients such as Centrica, Orange Telecom, SunGard AS, Slovak Telecom, Paddy Power, Sky, TomTom and British Telecom
He combines his deep CloudStack knowledge with extensive experience in a range of network, storage and compute technologies.
Paul has spoken at every CloudStack Collaboration Conference as well as speaking for Ansible at a number of events. He is based in London
Prior to ShapeBlue, Paul ran his own infrastructure consulting business. His formative years were spent as IT Director of a £300M property company, a Director of Dan Computers and Technical Director of MessagePlus
Paul holds a MEng BSc (hons) in Electro-Mechanical Engineering The University of Manchester. Outside of work, Paul is married with a young daughter and loves golf, fast cars and music.
John Burwell – VP Software Engineering
John’s work on Apache CloudStack initially focused on the storage layer and later expanded to core architecture and security. He became a project committer January 2013 and a member of the PMC in June 2013. He has spoken at many events about CloudStack and other subjects, including CloudStack collaboration conferences.
Prior to ShapeBlue, John was a Senior Software Engineer at Basho Technologies where he built the S3-backed Secondary Storage feature for the CloudStack project. He also led teams to prototype an unstructured data management platform with robust revision control, semantic definition, and indexing capabilities based on the Riak key-value store and Riak CS object store, and build a operational analytics service for Riak. Before Basho, John led a team at Potomac Fusion designing and automating the provisioning of cloud nodes to form a geographically distributed, analytic cloud.
John holds a BA in Computer Science from Transylvania University and is based in Washington DC. When not at work, John spends time with his young family, cooks French/Creole food, reading, and riding his bike.
Steve Roles – VP Service Delivery
Steve is VP of Service Delivery and is responsible for the delivery of the Consulting, Programme Management, Engineering and support functions at ShapeBlue globally. Steve also oversees direct Project Management for large customer engagements and had led a number of major public and private cloud implementations.
Prior to ShapeBlue, Steve held a number of senior project and account management roles in enterprise IT outsourcing companies where he gained domain experience in the finance, professional services and defence markets.
Away from work, Steve is a music lover and semi-professional musician. Although he doesn’t speak at many technology conferences, he can sometimes be heard providing the evening entertainment.
Marco Sinhoreli – Managing Consultant – ShapeBlue Brazil
Marco is responsible for all in-country operations at ShapeBlue Brazil, including market development, operations and localised technical delivery. As well as his management role, Marco acts as Lead Consultant for client engagements in Latin America. Marco is based in our Rio De Janerio office.
Marco is a results-orientated technology executive with very strong Cloud Computing, Virtualization, Network, Data Center and Linux skills. He is well known in Brazil as a Director of the Cloud Security Alliance Chairman of the Xen Server user community. He regularly speaks at events on cloud computing and security topics. Marco is a contributer to the Apache Cloudstack project, having recently completed the UI translation to Portuguese.
Prior to ShapeBlue Marco was a Technology Specialist at Globo.com where he led many projects including the research, design and implementation of their private cloud infrastructure.
Away from work, Marco is a lover of music (playing a mean guitar) and politics.
Dan Crowe – Managing Consultant – ShapeBlue South Africa
Dan is Managing Consultant for ShapeBlue South Africa. Based in our office in Cape Town, Dan is responsible for establishing ShapeBlue’s sub-saharan African presence and building out local capability and customer awareness of the benefits of cloud computing models, and associated technologies, as well as the local go-to-market strategy.
Dan has 17 years experience in the IT sector, with commercial and leadership roles in the telco sector, system integration, and vendor communities. Prior to joining ShapeBlue in 2013, Dan was a specialist within Citrix Systems Cloud and Datacentre practice in the UK, responsible for cloud networking and orchestration solutions.
Outside work, Dan is married with two young children. He enjoys fitness including cycling and running has completed in a number of triathlons. He enjoys life in South Africa and likes to finish his workouts with a cold beer and a braai.
Shanker Balan – Managing Consultant – ShapeBlue India
Shanker is responsible for all in-country operations at ShapeBlue India, including market development, operations and localised technical delivery. As well as his management role, Shanker acts as Lead Consultant for client engagements in India and is based in our Bangalore office.
Shanker is a committer and highly active contributor to the Apache CloudStack projec He comes from an Infrastructure Architecture background, having previously been Lead Operations Architect for Inmobi. Prior to that, Shanker spent four years at Yahoo where he managed production and service engineering activities.
