Spring meeting of CloudStack European User group.
We’re very excited to announce the spring meeting of the CloudStack European User group, this time kindly hosted by BT, the people behind BT Cloud Compute.
VENUE: BT Centre showcase, 81 Newgate St, London, EC1A 7AJ. Nearest tube: St. Paul’s
We have some great speakers lined up. Of particular note, the recently appointed VP of CloudStack – Sebastien Goasguen – will present his vision for the project and practical actions that the community can take to make CloudStack even easier to deploy, use and develop. In terms of usage, Sebastien will talk about the CloudStack ecosystem and the many tools available to the entire community. Improving these tools and adding new ones (such as better CloudFoundry integration) is key to the long term growth of CloudStack. In terms of development, Sebastien will talk about best practices to improve code quality and ease the release process.
Finally, he will talk about long term trends in IT, the impact of Docker on CloudStack and the support for advanced scheduling framework like Apache Mesos and Kubernetes.
As always, and as well as the speakers, there will be the chance to meet with other CloudStack users, lunch, and time to continue the discussions over a beer or two in the evening.
IMPORTANT NOTE: these user groups are regularly sold out and we’ve had a waiting list for places. Please ensure you are able to attend before booking tickets.

Prior to working actively on CloudStack he had a life as an academic, he authored over seventy international publications on grid computing, high performance computing, electromagnetics, nanoelectronics and of course cloud computing. He also taught courses on distributed computing, network programming, ethical hacking and cloud.
Geoff Higginbottom is CTO of ShapeBlue and a leading global authority on the design of Cloud infrastructures based on CloudStack and CloudPlatform. He is a committer in the Apache Cloudstack project and has designed many global clouds for both public and private cloud use-cases. He combines his deep cloudstack knowledge with extensive experience in a range of network, storage and compute technologies. When not building clouds, Geoff likes to talk about building clouds.
Wido den Hollander is CTO and co-owner of PCextreme B.V., a leading dutch hosting company. He also spends time helping organisations with Ceph and CloudStack via his company 42on B.V. He is a committer in the Apache CloudStack project.
