Spring meeting of CloudStack European User group
We’re very excited to announce the spring 2016 meeting of the CloudStack European User group, this time kindly hosted by BT, the people behind BT Cloud Compute.
VENUE: BT Centre showcase, 81 Newgate St, London, EC1A 7AJ. Nearest tube: St. Paul’s.
As well as talks from guest speakers, there will be the chance to meet with other CloudStack users, lunch, and time to continue the discussions over a beer or two in the evening.

Improving CloudStack for Operators, Rohit Yadav
Large organisations can face challenges when using IaaS software like CloudStack. Rohit will give an overview, and demo some of the recent features and improvements that aim to improve CloudStack for large organisations.
Containers and CloudStack, Sebastien Goasguen
With VM seemingly taking a back seat with containers coming back in fame, what is the role of CloudStack or Openstack. In this talk Sebastien will briefly review the state of the art and bring some context around container orchestrators and how they related to CloudStack. WH will then discuss how containers orchestration can be easily integrated in CloudStack.
Using the KVM hypervisor in CloudStack, Dag Sonstebo
Dag will give an overview of the pros and cons of working with KVM in a CloudStack environment, as well as diving deeper into installation, configuration, networking and storage options.
Securing your Cloud Environment, Jon Noble
Jon will give a brief overview of why you should consider security as part of your CloudStack deployment, why your approach to security needs to be different than in a traditional environment, and also talk about some of the motives behind the attacks – why they attack you and what they do once they have compromised a system
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Giles Sirett is CEO & founder of ShapeBlue, the leading independent CloudStack integrator & consultancy. He is a committer and PMC member of the Apache CloudStack project and also Chairman of the European Cloudstack User Group. He has worked with many high-profile organisations, helping them strategise , design and implement CloudStack based clouds. Giles is an active contributor to the Apache CloudStack project and has spoken at all CloudStack Collaboration conferences, “Build an Open-source Cloud days” and many other events on the subject. When not boring his friends about CloudStack, Giles can be heard regularly boring people about his quest to become British Masters 100m freestyle champion. Don’t ask!
Rohit Yadav is a Software Architect at ShapeBlue, and also a committer and PMC member of the Apache CloudStack project. He spends most of his time working on CloudStack feature development for ShapeBlue customers, and also takes a key role within the CloudStack developer community. In the last year Rohit was one of the top 4 individual contributors to the Apache CloudStack project.
Sebastien Goasguen is the founder of Skippbox, a startup that provides a toolbox and application management solution for developers. He is also the current Vice-President of Apache CloudStack, a committer and member of the Project Management Committee (PMC).
Dag Sonstebo is a Senior Consultant and Cloud Architect at ShapeBlue. Dag has 18 years experience from the service provider, financial and manufacturing industries and has a great interest in everything cloud, virtualisation and automation. In his spare time Dag rides motorbikes, plays guitar and likes travelling.
Jon Noble is Director of Strategic Alliances & Partnerships at TrendMicro, a global leader in IT Security. Jon specialises in security for cloud-based infrastructures and spoke at last year’s CloudStack Collaboration Conference.
